My passion for music began at a young age, starting piano lessons at the age of six. By the time I was in high school I knew I wanted to have a career in music, and was competing in piano competitions as well as performing in my school band. It was while working in large ensembles that I began accompanying many fellow band and choir members, a pursuit that has become a lifelong love. At sixteen, I started giving piano lessons and became my church's pianist.
I received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), studying with renowned concert pianists Jakob Gimple and Francoise Regnat. After graduating, I became an active member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) and developed a private studio comprised of intermediate and advanced students who consistently won local and state competitions at the highest level. I also taught class piano at my Alma mater, and accompanied the Moorpark Masterworks Chorale until 1990.
Moving to Kent, Washington in 1990, I joined the South King County Music Teacher Association, a division of Music Teachers National Association, and became Nationally Certified (NCTM). My students have experienced tremendous success at both local, State and National competitions. In addition to private lesson, I am the Principal Accompanist for the Rainier Chorale and recently retired Green River Community College, where I was an adjunct faculty member for 18 years. I have served as an adjudicator and clinician, and I continue to enjoy accompanying instrumentalists and soloists both at church and in the community.
